Hey Gang,
You might remeber last’s years post of Whats in my bag
Well things are a little different this year, actually ALOT different! *LOL* Last year I switched systems and jumped ship! I went over to the “Dark side” as us Canonians (Canon users) would say; I picked up a complete Nikon system! The first question everyone is probably asking is why? Honestly? I looooooove gold..I mean toys! Like the old saying goes boyz and their toyz, it never stops it just gets more expensive *wink*
All joking aside though I absolutely love my new gear! From the D3’s ISO capabilities to the sharpness of ALL the lenses, its butter baby!
Let’s start off with the D3 this baby is 12.87MP shooting at 9 frames per second that’s right 9! As mentioned the ISO performance is stellar, I mean I have shots at 3200 that are so clean they rival some of my 5d 800ISO shots! What I really love is the duel card slot; it serves as a little piece of insurance. Even though I’ve never had a card corrupt on me *knock on wood* if it ever does happen I have the other card serving as a back up!
Now the lens the true reason I switched! Warning: The following statement does not reflect the views or opinions shared by this broadcast station! *LOL* The lenses rock! There are no sharper zoom lenses on the market period!
I would even say that my new Nikon 24-70 at F2.8 comes pretty darn close to my old canon fixed lenses. Don’t get me wrong I really loved my canon lenses especially my 35 F1.4 and 85F1.2 and this is Nikon’s biggest draw back they don’t have any great wide angle primes like the 24mm or 35mm. But something might be in the works for this year! *wink**wink*
The 14-24 is also rated the sharpest wide angle prime, this lens is so fun! Like all wide angles this lens is great for landscapes and getting close to the action but its sharp from center to edge, tack sharp! The 70-200 is probably my most used lens; the way this baby melts the background out of focus is magical! I’ll be posting a personal review of each piece of equipment in the future stay tuned to that!
So with no further ado here’s Whats In My Bag.
